One of the advantages of being a CM Advisor is that everyone (who elects to) appears on the Advisor locator, so current and potential customers can easily find your contact information. The only downside? Occasionally scammers access it to see if they can wrangle free products.
If you've received an email from a stranger asking you to place a one-time order for which they'll mail you a certified check, it may be from a scammer. Often these emails include poor grammar or strange situations (placing a large order for someone else, for instance.)
If you are suspicious, we recommend referring them to your website, where they can use a credit card. If they persist, feel free to cease all contact.
To protect yourself, you will not want to accept checks or any kind from anyone you do not know personally.
You are welcome to report any email you believe is spam to your local authorities and/or send an e-mail to: www.ftc.gov/complaint.
