Checkout: Payment Method Vault- I’m getting the error “The transaction cannot be processed.”
During checking when using your vaulted card as your payment method, if you are being declined, it could be because your billing address on the vaulted card does not match the billing address on that credit card account.
You can key that credit card in during the checkout process and be sure the billing address matches what that credit card has on file. Then select "Save for Later Use" to re-vault this card.
The address match does not need to be exact. For example, you can key “Ave or Avenue”. But you can’t be missing a digit in your house number or an incorrect street name for example. Because the system will check for an address match, Reward and Gift issued debit cards are not an accepted card payment method.
There can be other reasons for a decline causing the payment to not process. Often it is a keying error or update to the credit card being used or a payment processor issue, in which case you can try again soon.
- CVV code
- Expiration date
- Make sure if a new card they activated it
- Make sure if their card has been compromised (check with their bank) and a new one might be on the way
- Make sure a new card is not potentially on the way
- Check their security notifications
- Check that the card is not at their credit limit
